Short Update
Just another minor update. The 2 swarms I kept are doing very well. In fact the first one hived in early May donated a couple frames of open brood & eggs, one each to the 2 splits made earlier. The splits did not show signs yet of having a queen after 30 days. I decided to add the open brood and eggs to see if they made queen cells because I didn't see a queen and there were no brood or eggs present. We'll see what happens.

So whats happened since the last update:
The 2 splits both made queens and are very strong hives going into Fall. We got 100 lbs of nice light spring honey from our 2 original hives from last year but both hives swarmed multiple times. Those 2 hives are now our weakest but are building up OK and should be large enough to survive the winter.
The 2 swarms are now awesome hives and we expect to get 3 or 4 supers of honey this fall from each.
We requeened green and striped hive in early August because of queen issues. The queens are doing well and the hives should be fine approaching winter.
